The GLAAACC Education Fund & Foundation Board of Directors consists of eight business men and women who all have a strong desire to see inner-city students succeed in their educational endeavors.

 

Donald A. Kincey, Chairman

Vice President, Community Development & Public Affairs

Kincey joined Comerica Bank in 1999 after working with nonprofit organizations in South Los Angeles.  As the vice president of Community Development and Public Affairs, he is responsible for the implementation of Comerica’s economic development initiatives in California by focusing on ethnic markets as a driver of new business opportunities and to promote Comerica as a good corporate citizen.

 

 

 

Carl A. Ballton, Vice Chairman

Ballton is a senior vice president within the Corporate Social Responsibility Group of Union Bank.  He also serves as president and COO of the Union Bank Foundation.  In this position, Mr. Ballton is responsible for implementing the charitable contribution policies and initiatives of both Union Bank and the Foundation.  Receiving his B.A. from Occidental College, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, Mr. Ballton is active with numerous civic and community organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Southern California and the Los Angeles Urban League where he serves as Chairman of the Board.

angela-gibson-headshot-smallAngela Gibson, director of External Affairs at AT&T is responsible for public policy and community relations activities in cities located in East Los Angeles, South Los Angeles, and portions of the West Los Angeles community.  She is the corporate liaison to selected federal and state officials and serves on the board for the Huntington Park Chamber of Commerce and Culver City Chamber of Commerce.   She has been recognized for her community and corporate efforts by the Black American Political Association of California, Association of Black Women Entrepreneurs, Our Authors Study Club, Women In NAACP, Black Business Association and the Black Public Relations Society.

 

Leonardo A. Cablayan, Treasurer

Market Vice President, Southwest Region

Operation HOPE, Inc.

Cablayan is the Market Vice President of the Southwest Region for Operation HOPE.   He has been with Operation HOPE  4 years and in addition to his current responsibilities as Market Vice President, was responsible for HOPE’s  youth financial literacy program, Banking on Our Future, in the Western region, that includes California, Oregon, Texas, Colorado and Illinois.  Leonardo also has had over 8 years of experience in the mortgage banking industry working for Wells Fargo and Countrywide.   Commitment to community is his passion and he currently serves on the Muir High School Business Academy Advisory Board, Southern California Leadership Network 2012 Fellow, Los Angeles Social Venture Partners Social Innovation Fast Pitch Coach and member of Pasadena Tournament of Roses.

Boyd, Sr. is the district director for U.S. Representative Janice Hahn, who represents the 36th Congressional District of California.   Prior to his current position Mr. Boyd served for 4½ years as District Director in the office of then-State Senator, now Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.  Mr. Boyd’s career also includes several years of political and non-profit management and consulting, which was preceded by 16 years as executive director of YMCA’s in Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, and Orange County.  While working with the YMCA Mr. Boyd distinguished himself in many aspects of management.  He was recognized by the YMCA’s of Southern California Management Resource Center for excellence in Board & Volunteer Development, Fundraising, and Strategic Planning in successive years.

kimberly-carter-ed-smallKimberly Carter is an attorney with the law firm of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. in Los Angeles, California where she currently works in the firm’s Employment Law and Litigation practice groups.  In the past, Ms. Carter was a litigation associate with Wicker, Smith, OHara, McCoy, Graham & Ford, P.A. in Miami, Florida.  She also worked as a tax associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in San Francisco, California.  Ms. Carter volunteers with many organizations including the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce.

 

 

Joseph Chow

joseph chow smallJoseph Chow currently works in the Diverse Business Enterprise organization for San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company as the manager of Supplier Diversity.  Mr. Chow works both inside and outside his business by identifying and matching woman owned, minority and service disabled veteran businesses and companies that specialize in natural gas operations, such as pipeline construction of natural gas distribution and transmission systems.  Mr. Chow is a native of Kansas where he attended high school and college.  He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from St. Mary’s University and holds a CPA certification.

 

 

 

Keith A. Drake

Keith Drake is the senior vice president and the market executive of the Business Banking Central Los Angeles Market. He is responsible for managing a team of client managers that provide financial solutions for business banking clients with revenues of $2.5 million up to $50 million, The businesses are from a wide range of industries, including general manufacturing, distribution, service and non-profit organizations.  Keith joined Bank of America in 1994 as a consumer banking manager. Within 2 years he took on the role of client manager in the Commercial Banking Group. His time in Business Banking began with his delivery of a faith-based program specifically designed for the needs of Business Banking clients.  Keith has been in the banking industry for over 27 years, the last 15 years have been with Bank of America.

He has promoted these values by providing equipment and financial support to churches, charities, schools and local business organizations.  Mr. Hale earned his Business Administration degree from California State University-Dominguez Hills in Los Angeles and is a native of Birmingham, Alabama.
